The Business Development Manager  will play a pivotal role in driving Mediq UK's growth strategy by leading a team focused on selling medical consumables and supply chain solutions to private hospital groups and private clinics. This role involves not only managing and developing a high-performing sales team but also actively engaging in direct sales activities with key accounts and new business opportunities. The successful candidate will personally oversee relationships with the most important customers and play a lead role in identifying and securing new business within the private healthcare sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the business development and sales team to achieve growth objectives in the private hospital sector.
  • Actively manage and nurture relationships with key accounts, ensuring client satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to expand market share for medical consumables and supply chain solutions.
  • Personally take on a sales role, overseeing strategic accounts and directly managing high-value customers while identifying new business opportunities.
  • Hunt for and develop new business opportunities through proactive outreach, market research, and networking.
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging opportunities, industry trends, and competitor activity.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing, product management, and logistics teams to ensure alignment on market needs and customer service excellence.
  • Prepare and deliver proposals, presentations, and product demonstrations to prospective and existing clients.
  • Track and report on sales performance, team KPIs, and market trends to the senior leadership team.
  • Mentor and coach the sales team, fostering a high-performance culture and encouraging professional development.
  • Ensure all business development and sales activities comply with relevant legal, ethical, and company standards.

What are we looking for? 

We are looking for someone strong experience selling medical consumables or supply chain solutions to private hospital groups or healthcare organisations. You will have excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to identify and capitalise on market opportunities

  • Proven experience in business development or sales within the healthcare or medical supplies sector.
  • Proven track record of leading successful sales teams and achieving revenue growth in a B2B environment.
  • Experience selling medical consumables or supply chain solutions to private hospital groups or healthcare organizations is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the UK healthcare market, particularly private hospital groups and associated procurement processes.
  • A track record of hunting new business opportunities and personally bringing new high value customers onboard
  • Strong strategic thinking and commercial acumen with the ability to identify and capitalize on market opportunities.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with C-level stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Highly organized, with excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.
  • Proficiency analysing and managing data via a range of digital data solutions
